Short-form: Our Mission
The Boston Forecasting Research Institute, Inc. (BFRI Inc), is organized exclusively for research (scientific) and educational purposes that qualifies under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or any corresponding section of any future federal tax code. We were founded in 2013 to respond to the universal forecasting and planning failures that occurred during the financial and economic crash of 2008. The purpose of BFRI Inc is to bring innovation, improved effectiveness and understanding to forecasting for business, economic forecasting, and to the business planning process that uses these forecasts. Our mission contains five components: (1) Improving the public knowledge, reputation, and trust of forecasting for business and business planning through an extensive education program; (2) Upgrading the quality and effectiveness of business planning through our forecasting for business expertise; (3) Improving the effectiveness of macroeconomic forecasting through an extensive research program; (4) Improving the effectiveness of forecasting for business through our research program; (5) Improving the public knowledge, reputation, and trust of macroeconomic forecasting through an extensive education program. (all programs will be ongoing). In the event that the Corporation is ever dissolved by the Board of Directors, the assets of the Corporation will be donated to Boston College, conditional upon Boston College fulfilling the wishes of the Founding Director for the use of the Corporation’s assets, and if Boston College is unable, or unwilling to accept the donation, the assets will be donated to a similar exempt organization under similar terms.
